Welcome to our school

An introduction from Miss Gail Corbishley, Chair of the Governing Body.

Newlaithes Junior School is open to all children aged 7 – 11 years. We normally between have 235 and 240 children on roll, making us one of the largest junior schools in the county. Over many years, our school has built up a strong reputation for high standards and excellence, reflected in our last Ofsted inspected in May 2016 where we were graded as a ‘good’ school with these qualities being recognised, We were delighted to receive a number of outstanding elements within this inspection, including within our teaching and leadership. We are now focused upon delivering outstanding levels of performance to provide your child with the very best education available.

The school itself opened in 1963 as a purpose built eight class school for 240 children. Since then developments have included a purpose built computer suite (upgraded in 2011), highly valued small group and individual teaching areas, interactive touch screens in every class and some splendid outdoor learning facilities.

Our headteacher, Mr Andrew Cannon, staff and governors will continue to develop delightful and purposeful learning experiences for your child to enjoy. We will supply your child with the highest quality education, which will include hard work, excitement and fun. Backed by our most recent inspection, we believe Newlaithes Junior School to have many strengths including our:
* teaching and leadership;
* use of technology;
* partnerships with parents and the community;
* our care, guidance and support for all children, including children with special needs;
* our effectiveness in developing children’s attitudes to work and towards others; and finally,
* the excellent standards of behaviour and personal development throughout school.
We offer the very best education for your child and you can be assured of excellent progress and learning as your child pdevelops through our school.

The Governing Body, working together with the headteacher, staff and parents, is very enthusiastic for the future of the school and its children.  We are all working very hard to make sure the school continues to build upon its strengths and strives hard to ensure the very best outcomes for all children. We are all united in giving your child the very best education.
