Jack & Jill School, Choma, Zambia, Africa
By Amelia and Jack
We are delighted to be linked to a school in Zambia and a school in Malawi. Our Year 3 & 4 children have recently sent cards and gifts to all the children of Jack & Jill School and orphanage in Zambia, Africa. The school is very different to Newlaithes Junior School: They haven't got any electricity or very much equipment for teachers and children. They haven't got a library or any computers. There are now four children sitting at a table for two (so children are squeezed into the classrooms). In some classes, there is only one teacher for two classes. At the moment there is only one toilet for the whole school. So we are very lucky at Newlaithes Junior School and hope that we can help Jack and Jill School as well as be friends.
We also now know to stop moaning because we have so much compared to them. We all hope to carry on developing good friends with our pen pals in Africa.

Our PTFA sponsor CheChe and we hold a 'break the rules' day each year to raise money to sponsor Jack and Sandra.
We have sent cards and presents to the children in Zambia
We collected over a thousand books to send to Zambia to help start a new library for the school. The photograph below shows two of our UK volunteers with our books ready to be sent over 5,000 miles to Jack and Jill School.
